Marwani Mosque - Jerusalem

Marwani Mosque or Prayer Hall is located very close to the al-Aqsa Mosque at Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This underground mosque covers 500 square meters in area, next to the Southern Wall of Jerusalem. Stairs from the Temple Mount lead into a tunnel which opens into a prayer hall.
Mosque can hold up to 7000 worshippers at a given time. The mosque is also known as Solomon’s Stables because the Crusaders were using this area to house their horses.

Romans used this area as a water reservoir but Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan changed it to the Prayer Hall (Mussalah). It is believed that some of the pillars may have been from the First Temple which was built by Prophet Solomon. Some of the pillars may have been built by the Jinnies (Jinns, by the order of Prophet Solomon).
