The Separation Wall is a barrier which runs along West Bank. Israel wanted to create this barrier to control the Palestinian areas. The route of the Separation Barrier, 85% of which runs inside the West Bank and only 15% into the Israeli areas. This wall represents Israeli mindset when it comes to Palestine.
At a total length of 708 kilometers upon completion, the border traced by the barrier is more than double the length of the Green Line (intended area), with 15% running along it or in Israel, while the remaining 85% cuts at times 18 kilometres deep into the West Bank, isolating about 9% of it, leaving an estimated 25,000 Palestinians isolated from the bulk of that territory.
The barrier broke up contiguous Palestinian urban and rural blocs, severed inter-community ties forged over generations, and abruptly imposed an arbitrary reconfiguration of space based on settlement boundaries and to suit the convenience of Israeli security forces.
By 2003, 180 km (112 mi) had been completed, by 2006, 362 km (224.9 mi) of the barrier had been completed. By 2012, 440 km (273.4 mi) of the barrier had been completed.
