Beside the Roman Bridge, next to the Republic Square lies a beautiful park, called Jardim Publico de Tavira. This is a small but well maintained park and it also offers great views of the river. This Public Garden is also known as Jardim do Coreto and it is the oldest public park in the city.
In the middle of the park stands an octagonal Bandstand. Around Bandstand, there is a small pond (sometimes referred as a lake) which houses some fish and reptiles. Various local festivals are held in this park and it’s a meeting point for city inhabitants.
There are many benches in the park to sit down and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. At the time of my visit, all of the benches were decorated with the theme ‘dieto Mediterranica’ (the Mediterranean Diet).
