al-Mursi’s original name was Shahab al-Din and he was born in Murcia, al-Andalus (Spain). From al-Andalus, al-Mursi moved to Tunisia and later he stayed and died in Alexandria. Even though he came from a wealthy family in the trading business and was well educated in religious studies.
Inside the room there are only two graves but Arabic on the grave suggests that his two sons were buried there also.
There was a small complex which housed three graves at the back of the al-Mursi Mosque but there were no information about the people buried there. There was a caretaker there who let me in as long as I gave him a donation. The area was surrounded by palm dates but area was neglected.
