The Municipal Museum of Archaeology Loule is located in the building that used to be part of the Castle of Loule. There are various objects on display in the courtyard of the castle (museum). A staircase leads visitor upstairs where two main parts of the museum are displayed. These major sections of this museum are, the archaeology and the traditional cuisine of Algarve. In one of the settings, a couple is shown sitting in their kitchen, surrounded by various objects. This section of the museum shows how people had cooked in the past. It involves the process of obtaining grain, grinding it and then making dough for the bread.
On the opposite side of the Traditional Cuisine of Algarve room, lies the second room. This room shows some of the items related to the press and printing. The Archaeology Museum of Loule displays various objects collected from the local area. It has a statue of a António Aleixo (1899 – 1949 ), an old flag and some old photographs. António Aleixo was one of the most famous Portuguese poets.
In the archaeology section of the museum, items are displayed from the various periods. It ranges from prehistoric to the Middle Ages, through the Roman periods, Roman-Visigothic and Islamic period. During the Roman period, Loule was associated with the existence of the coastal villas and then exploiting the marine resources. Loule Velho and Cerro da Vila were a great hub for importing and exporting resources in the area. The Roman period has cup, needle, loom weights, oil lamps and coins. The Islamic period has spindles, needles, bowls, plates and jars to display.
