Sahaba Graves in Istanbul are spread in vast area. Nearly, all of them are close to the old city wall which used to surround the Constantinople.
Previously, I have written an article to document the Sahaba Graves in Istanbul. Now, this article covers information and photos of the sahaba in Turkey. Due to lack of documented proof, very little is known about the lives of those buried here because some of them are barely known by names.
Eyub Mosque and Grave (Abu Ayyub al-Ansari)
Abu Eyub or Ayyub belonged to Banu Najjar tribe of Medina in Saudi Arabia. When Muhammad arrived in Medina from Mecca, all of the inhabitants of the city offered to accommodate him. He decided instead to allow his camel to walk where it chose and to stay at whomsoever’s house it stopped. The camel of its own accord, stopped at the hose Abu Eyub al-Ansari and thus it gave him the honour to house the Holy Propher (PBUH) for the very first time in Medina. Hazrat Eyub passed away in 672.
Hazrat Abu Darda Grave
He is also known as Abu Darda or Eby Derdag, his tomb is a short distance away from the famous Eyub Mosque. Derda was the name of his daughter hence he is called Abu Derda. Some historians belive that Abu Derda died in Damascus in 652.
Hazrat Edhem (Adhem)
As for this tomb, there does not appear to be a Companion known by the name Adham. A sign in the window mentions a person by the name of Halid or Khālid and the year 46h (666 AD).
al-Ṭabari mentions that ‘Abd al-Raḥman, the son of the famous Khalid bin al-Walid, possibly led a campaign against the Byzantines in 46h before being killed by poison later that same year. Notably ‘Abd al-Raḥmān had led an earlier campaign into Byzantium in 44 as well. The sign may have mistaken ‘Abd al-Raḥmān for his father Khalid who also reportedly participated in fighting against the Byzantines during his lifetime.
